MAN SET FIRE TO COURT FOR DISOLVING HIS MARRIAGE
Ahmed Ubale Mai-Nama yesterday set ablaze an Upper Shari'a Court in Funtua town of Katsina State over alleged dissolution of his marriage. The estranged husband, according to a witness, Malam Shu'aibu Garba, set the court on fire in the
early hours of yesterday and stood watching as it consumed the entire building.
Garba told Daily Trust that the man was letter arrested and handed over to the police by the court's local guards and some passers-by.
The man is now being held at the Funtua police area command, it was gathered. Daily Trust learnt that about two weeks ago Garba was said to have filed a case before the court seeking it to safeguard his marriage.

Man Arrested For Killing His Pregnant Wife
Family members of the deceased accused Kola of the crime, alleging that he beat up and shoved his pregnant wife. And the deceased allegedly fell on a hard object in their apartment and sustained a major injury, which made her bleed from the nose.
Seeing the harm he committed, Kola was said to have taken his wife to the clinic but Funmilayo, a mother of one, died shortly after, and the case was subsequently reported to the Badagry police station.
Funmilayo's elder sister, who identified herself as Monisola, also accused Kola of molesting his late wife in the past.

The rape of a five-year-old girl is generating the interest of the attorney general of the federation and minister of justice, Muhammed Bello Adoke (SAN), who on Wednesday applied to a Wuse Magistrate Court to take charge of its prosecution from the Police.
Canadian born Eliana Melekwe was allegedly raped at Bolingo Hotel by a certain Godwin Okon, a cleaner in the hotel. Mr. Ejike Orji, a lawyer from the AGF’s chambers, made an oral application to the court to convey the AGF’s interest in taking over the matter because it involved a foreign citizen.
However, counsel to the accused, Suleiman Usman, opposed the application, arguing that
the AGF could not takeover a criminal case without the fiat of an attorney general of the state, taking Abuja to possess the status of a state. After both sides had been heard, Magistrate Folashade Oyekan fixed Monday 25th June for
counsel’s submission of written addresses on the propriety of the AGF’s desire.

The rapper hanging with Drake -- Meek Mill -- was screaming at Chris and Chris was giving it right back to Meek Mill. One of Chris' lieutenants was also involved in the screaming match.
One source says Chris was hurt when Meek Mill hit him with a bottle.
A rep for Drake tells TMZ ... "Drake did not participate in any wrongdoing of any kind last night at W.i.P. He was on his way out of the club when the altercation began."
The rep adds, "[Drake] did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to person or damage to property.”

Woman attempts to Kill Her Fiancé and Commits Suicide for calling their Wedding Off
arraigned before Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, for allegedly attempting to kill herself and her fiance, Sunday Onayiga, with a knife.
She is now in prison custody at Kirikiri, Lagos, for attempted murder. She decided to kill herself and her fiancee after she was told by her fiance to pack out of their house at 3, Bassey Street, Orelope area of Egbeda, Lagos, where they have lived for over two years.
The angry woman insisted that he must marry her because he promised to marry her two years ago. The Ondo State-born woman expressed her frustration when Sunday broke the news to
her that he was no longer interested in the marriage.
Tunisia's ex-president "Zine el Abidine Ben Ali" sentenced to20 years in prison
Tunisia's ex-president, Zine el Abidine Ben Ali, was today sentenced to 20 years imprisonment in absentia, by a military court in the North African country. Ben Ali, who is exiled in Saudi Arabia, was found guilty of “inciting disorder, murder and
looting,” the court said in its verdict over the deaths of four youths, shot dead in the town of
Ouardanine in mid-January 2011.
Several of Ben Ali’s aides also received sentences of 5 to 10 years in jail, the official TAP news agency reported.
Whether he will be extradited to serve his sentence remains to be seen.
Pastor rapes 11-year old ‘witch’ while conducting deliverance
The pastor, whose church is situated at Tasia Road, Inland Town, Onitsha, was said to have told Chioma Onyeji, mother of the rape victim, who was in the church for a spiritual programme to leave the girl behind for some days in order to expel the evil spirit in her.
He further said the young girl possessed demonic spirit and witchcraft and consequently insisted that the girl should stay back with him.
Mrs Onyeji, who leaves in Asaba, Delta State, saw her daughter bleeding from her private part when she returned a few days later to pick her girl from the church and informed the police who immediately arrested the pastor.
Upon investigation, the girl told her mother that the pastor raped her three times after spreading white cloth on the floor.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at the CPS, Onitsha, Abdul Yusuf, told journalists on Tuesday that he was not on seat, but a police officer, who did not want his name mentioned, confirmed the incident, adding that the pastor would soon be charged to court.

The label was in Miami a few weeks ago to shoot some videos with American director Antwan Smith. One of these videos is “Ekuro” by Davido. It’s a love song that displays a completely different side to the young singer. Produced by Shizzi and co-produced by Davido for HKN Music, it’s the third official single off David’s album, which is out in July.

FIVE KILLED, 1 INJURED IN A PLANE CRASH IN UKRAINE
The accident took place at the Borodyanka airport some 30 kilometers (20 miles) west of Kiev on Sunday when the small plane tried to land during a heavy rainstorm with high winds, the Emergency Situations Ministry said.
The plane belonged to a pilot school and was carrying 16 parachute jumpers and two crew members. An investigation has been opened.

Now, the latest female signing in town
is Niyola and she will be resting her nest in the EME
camp partly run by label boss, the R&B singer Banky W.
Niyola will be joining the likes of pop
star Wizkid, young rapper Skales,
Banky himself and another new signing Shyadee. Shaydee,
an upcoming R&B singer was formerly signed to Kackland
Records (along with rapper Pope da Hitman).
Niyola however isn’t a newbie in the
music industry. Formerly associated with former Trybesmen rapper Freestyle,
she released her self-titled debut back in 2007 on Westsyde records.
No word yet from the label or their reps
on the signing, but we’ve been assured by multiple sources that Niyola
has been signed, and that work has already commenced on her album.
In related news the group is set to
release their first ever compilation album aptly titled ‘Empire
Mates State of Mind’ on Monday, June 18, 2012. Banky W
has put up a tentative album art as his Twitter avatar.
The album we are told will feature 22
tracks from the label’s acts including in-house Disc Jockey DJ Xclsuive;
18 songs with four skits from Basketmouth and production from Cobhams,
Banky W, Masterkraft, Sarz, Shizzi, Spellz, Legendary Beats
and Kid Konnect.
