The premier University, University of Ibadan (UI) is currently accepting application from her 2012/2013 prospective candidates for the admission into her various undergraduate programmes.

To be eligible to apply: you must satisfy the three under listed eligibility criteria:-
1. Must have chosen UI either as first, or second or both choice in the 2012 UTME.
2. Must have obtained a minimum of 200 in the 2012 JAMB exams, to be proved by your Original JAMB Result Slip.
3. Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age by October 2012.

Unbelievable: Masqurade Raped A Nursing Mother

Tension mounts in Opi, Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State as masquerades took turn in the series of rape stories synonymous with the community. The alleged rape of a female student, Ngozika Ugwu, presented mixed feelings and reactions to what may have bedevilled the community in the recent past.
Rape stories in Opi, a community in the university town of Nsukka, have occupied major national dailies, hitting banner headlines, from the three quarters that make up the community, Idi, Ogbozalla and Ibeku.
In 2011, the story of the rape of women between 70 and 80 years spread like wild fire in the country, raising eyebrows on the motive for such inhuman and barbaric act by, especially, youths of the community. Some of them were fingered and allegedly arrested, interrogated by the police but could not be persecuted because of want of evidence.

Following this development, Ada Enugu Women Organisation led by Mrs. Kate Ezeofor stormed the community for a church service at St. Charles Catholic Church parish, Opi to cleanse the land and the old women that were defiled.

Few months later, Opi women took to the streets in protest of yet another rape at Ogbozalla–Opi. The protest attracted the quick intervention of the Chairman, Nsukka Local Government Council, Mr. Tony Ugwu who invited all the stakeholders in the community to discuss the ugly development and proffer solutions. Though it was later discovered that the protest had political undertone, the council boss brokered peace to the satisfaction of all.

Barely few months of enjoying peace in the area, masquerades took turn in the series of rape stories in the community by defiling a 28-year-old undergraduate nursing mother. The victim told Crime Alert in tears that the trauma of the rape will forever live with her but stated that she had forgiven the rapists.

While narrating her ordeal, she appealed to local, state and federal governments to ensure that truth prevails in this country by fighting for the poor masses. Ngozi, who dropped out from her NCE programme at the Enugu State College of Education (Technical)due to lack of funds after her ordeal, called on concerned Nigerians to come to her aid to enable her go back to school.

A 10-year old girl who was a victim of sexual abuse has made a shocking confession, saying that she cannot do without having sex with men daily.

She narrated how an old man, who was their neighbour at Mile 12, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, lured her into sex at seven and since then she cannot resist having sex everyday. The primary two pupil said if she did not see any man to have sex with her in her area, she would go to a popular under bridge at Mile 12 Lagos and beg for sex from touts.

She said she came from Enugu state to Lagos to live with her aunt after the death of her father.
Her case has become so serious that she had to be referred to an NGO, Community Health Support and Empowerment Initiative, COHSAEI, which has taken up the challenge to rehabilitate her.
The little girl said she was lured into sex by a man she called Baba who lived with her aunt in the same compound.
She said the man (Baba) usually called her to his apartment whenever his wife and her aunt were not around and will put his finger inside her private part.

2012/2013 PRE-ADMISSION SCREENING EXERCISE

The University of Ilorin invites candidates who have applied for admission into the undergraduate degree programmes of the University for the 2012/2013 academic session to upload the required information for the Screening Exercise between Friday 1st June and Friday, 8th June 2012. All results intended for use for the 2012/2013 admission must be uploaded not later than Wednesday 15th August, 2012 when the Portal shall be closed.(Candidates awaiting any result should please note). The Pre-admission Screening Exercise will commence on Monday 11th and ends on Saturday 16th June, 2012 at Ilorin and Lagos centres.

Physically challenged candidates are advised to pick Ilorin Centre.

The following categories of candidates are eligible:
A. UTME Candidates who made the University of Ilorin their first and/or second choice and scored:
(i) a minimum of 200 marks in the UTME for courses other than those
listed in (ii) and (iii) below, and also have five (5) ‘O’ level Credits in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings.
(ii) a minimum score of 220 marks in UTME for Accounting, Biochemistry, Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Common Law, Economics, English, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Finance, Geology, Industrial Chemistry, Mass Communication, Mechanical Engineering, Microbiology, Nursing Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine and five (5) ‘O’ level Credits in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings.
iii) MB;BS candidates who obtained:
(a) a minimum score of 240 marks in the UTME; and
b) five (5) O level Credit Passes at one sitting only in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination or its equivalent in the following
subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Lil Wayne and Drake facing lawsuit for alleged missed performance

Hip-hop superstars Lil Wayne and Drake are known to have lyrics of grandeur, bragging about the money and luxuries that hold little significance to them. However, even though money is not a “thang” to the two rappers, both are refusing to pay a 400-thousand dollar judgment for an alleged missed club appearance. TMZ reports that the duo was sued for that amount by Imperial Entertainment Group, which claims that the two “promised to perform at a 2011 event but were no shows.” Both artists are denying any credibility to that claim, stating they never signed or were aware of any documents stating such, and that IEG “used a third party to book them,” something they did not authorize.

Chris Brown, Drake and Meek Mill feud on Twitter over Rihanna

No names were ever mentioned, but in the Twitter war between R&B singer Chris Brown and rappers Drake and Meek Mill, everyone partaking in the conversation knew what and who it was about: Rihanna. All three of the artists had been connected romantically to RiRi, whether it was unofficially or not. The fiasco began once Brown found out that Mill had been romancing his ex and had Meek removed from his upcoming single, “Don’t Judge Me.” This did not sit well with the rapper, who tweeted but later deleted, “[You] took me off ya song cause she let me watch the throne,” a reference to Rihanna being on stage with rappers Kanye and Jay-Z. This led to Brown responding by mocking Mill’s “dreamchasers” catchphrase. Somehow in all of this, Drake then got involved, more or less describing Rihanna as the type of girl who gets around, and patronizing Brown’s apparent agitation with the matter. Mill put it best though when he later tweeted “[These] chicks belong to the game…not you!”

Facebook To Launch Mobile Phone Next Year

Facebook will soon release its own mobile phone. the owner of the popular and multi-billionaire social networking site Mr. Mark believed that soon facebook will just be an app on other company mobile phone.

It quoted a Facebook employee as saying the site’s founder Mark Zuckerberg was “worried that if he doesn’t create a mobile phone in the near future… Facebook will simply become an app on other mobile platforms”.
In a statement for potential investors ahead of its initial public offering earlier this month, the company admitted it had concerns about more users accessing Facebook through their mobile – a trend which could make it more difficult to sell advertising.
When asked by the BBC, a spokeswoman for Facebook said the company did not comment on speculation, and referred instead to a written statement.
“Our mobile strategy is simple: we think every mobile device is better if it is deeply social,” the statement read.
“We’re working across the entire mobile industry; with operators, hardware manufacturers, OS providers, and application developers to bring powerful social experiences to more people around the world.”

The phone will premier next year.

Football To Be Suspended In Italy For 3years

Italy’s prime minister Mario Monti on Wednesday called for football in the country to be suspended for ‘two to three’ years after the latest match-fixing scandal
Mr Monti said the idea was a question he was asking ‘as someone who was passionate when football was still football’.
Monti expressed a ‘profound sadness’ after 30 homes of people connected to Serie A and Serie B, as well as the lower leagues, were searched, with Juventus coach Antonio Conte – who recently led Juventus to the Scudetto – among those questioned.
“I wonder if it wouldn’t be a good idea to suspend the game for two or three years, the premier said.
“It’s particularly sad when a world which should be an expression of the highest values – sport, youth, competition, fairness turns out to be a mass of foul play, falsehood and demagoguery.”
The latest arrests come six years after the infamous Calciopoli scandal in which Juventus were stripped of their title and relegated to Serie B.

A United States-based Nigerian, Emeka Mazie, on Wednesday dragged his 96-year-old father to court for insisting to re-marry after the demise of his wife eight years ago.
The suit with number HU/54/2012 filed before the Umuahia High Court 4, is presided over by Justice Agwu Kalu.

Rapper and song writer Eva has been confirmed by Eldee Da Don, the CEO of Trybe Records as a new signing for the company.
Eldee took his twitter account early on Wednesday May 30, 2012 to announce this new addition.

Charly Boy Clears Air On Gay Rumour

Veteran musician Charly Boy has threatened to sue two publications which reported that he is gay and a member of the Illuminati, a secret cult.

On Saturday, May 26, 2012, the National Mirror and Daily Independent newspapers published an article making the allegations, quoting from a Danfo Newspaper.

Charly boy took to his Twitter account on Monday, May 28, 2012 saying ‘yesterday, I was an illuminati member. Today, a gay, tomorrow, sleeping with a coffin and the list is endless. When will they stop these lies?‘

The eccentric entertainer says he usually keeps mum regarding media allegations, but it seems the 60-year-old musician is now ready to break his pattern, threatening to take legal action against National Mirror and Daily Independent.

‘I read with total dismay in Saturday Mirror newspaper that I am a gay and head of illuminati. I have never sued before…but this time…’ said Charlyboy

He continued, ‘I’m really very sorry, but this action is necessary just to avert future unverified story by my most learned journalists! My words!’

Liberia's former president Charles Taylor was has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for war crimes at an international war crimes court, in The Hague yesterday 30th of May 2012.

Taylor was found guilty last month of 11 counts of aiding and abetting was crimes and crimes against humanity by supporting rebels between 1996 and 2002 in return for conflict diamonds. He was convicted of offenses including murder, rape, sexual slavery, recruiting child soldiers, enforced amputations and pillage.

A student from the university sent me a mail about what happened in their school early this morning. The students of University of Nigeria, Nsuka, woke up to find one of their own hanging from a rope in an unfinished Franco building beside the hockey pitch in their school. Roommates of the dead student said he left the room around 2am this morning and they thought he had gone to study, only for his corpse to be found dangling from a rope this morning. He's a 3rd year Physics and Astronomy student in his early 20's. So so sad. A photo of the sad incident when you continue...but viewer discretion advised.

FG Insists that University of Lagos would be Moshood Abiola University – What Next for UNILAG Students?

With the Federal Government’s announcement yesterday that there would be no going back on the decision to rename University of Lagos as Moshood Abiola University, what’s next for the students and stakeholders of the institution?
The Federal Government through the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku has said that it will not revert its decision of renaming University of Lagos after Chief M.K.O Abiola. Despite protests from the students and staff of the institution, Maku

said there would be no going back on the decision to rename University of Lagos as Moshood Abiola University in honour of the late winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
Addressing State House correspondents after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja yesterday, the Minister said the President’s proclamation was in response to the outcry of concerned Nigerians who have been clamoring for the immortalization of late Abiola. He called on Nigerians not to allow the protests by some students to overshadow the significance of the president’s decision to immortalize Abiola.
“Yes sometimes government decisions get reactions from the populace, we do not as an administration see this as a disapproval. We just see it as a normal way in every democracy that when you make major decisions definitely sometimes you have public reaction but we should not allow the protest to overshadow the national significance of what Mr. President has done.”

ASSU: WE WILL RESIST UNILAG CHANGE OF NAME

The spokes man for the Academic Staff Union Of Univeristy (ASUU) Mr. Karo Ogbinaka sad the union will not comply with the President decion to change the name of the University Of Lagos.

We are resisting it, all the unions and the students will resist it, the Alunmus will resist it. The truth about the whole thing is that it shows the level of intelligence of those people in government. Nobody will change Harvard's name, nobody will change Cambridge's name to Winston Churchill University. University of Lagos is a brand, for 50 years. The first university established by Act of Parliament and one man trying to score cheap political point. When people go outside and you ask them what university are you from? What name will you pronounce? They'll ask is it a new university? Is it the name of a toothpaste? It's a senseless thing and are going to resist it. Karo said

On Friday May 25th around 3pm, Civilian militias loyal to President Bashar Assad of Syria stormed the province of Homs, in the Syrian town of Houla, and went from house to house murdering entire families one by one. They'd kill the mothers first, tie up the children, and make the fathers watch as they execute the children, before finally killing the fathers.

The massacre started by 3pm Friday afternoon and didn't end till 2am Saturday morning. And by the time the armed thugs were done, 106 lost their lives, including 47 children between 3 months old and 10 years who had either been shot or stabbed to death.

What happened last weekend is by far the bloodiest attacks in one area since the uprising against the Syrian President began in March 2011. In one case, three generations of one family was wiped out.
