EME RECORDS SIGNS FIRST LADY...NIYIOLA

Shortly after hit producer Don Jazzy announced the signing of R&B singer Tiwa Savage to his MAVIN Records, Trybe Records boss eLDee da Don signed up popular rapper Eva and upcoming female singer Aramide.

Now, the latest female signing in town is Niyola and she will be resting her nest in the EME camp partly run by label boss, the R&B singer Banky W.

Niyola will be joining the likes of pop star Wizkid, young rapper Skales, Banky himself and another new signing Shyadee. Shaydee, an upcoming R&B singer was formerly signed to Kackland Records (along with rapper Pope da Hitman).

Niyola however isn’t a newbie in the music industry. Formerly associated with former Trybesmen rapper Freestyle, she released her self-titled debut back in 2007 on Westsyde records.

No word yet from the label or their reps on the signing, but we’ve been assured by multiple sources that Niyola has been signed, and that work has already commenced on her album.

In related news the group is set to release their first ever compilation album aptly titled ‘Empire Mates State of Mind’ on Monday, June 18, 2012. Banky W has put up a tentative album art as his Twitter avatar.

The album we are told will feature 22 tracks from the label’s acts including in-house Disc Jockey DJ Xclsuive; 18 songs with four skits from Basketmouth and production from Cobhams, Banky W, Masterkraft, Sarz, Shizzi, Spellz, Legendary Beats and Kid Konnect.

NIGERIAN SUPER EAGLES PLAYER "OBODO" KIDNAPPED

Nigerian midfielder and Udinese Calcio of Italy player, Christian Obodo, was kidnapped in his hometown of Warri, Delta State on saturday 09/06/2012. The 28 year old footballer who grew up in Warri but moved abroad after his football career picked up, was home on holiday when he was kidnapped by gunmen in front of Zion Ministry Church Effurun, Warri in the early hours of today. Obodo was driving alone in his customized SUV - Obodo 5 when five gunmen in another vehicle double crossed him, dragged him out from his car, left his car on the road and sped off with Obodo in the back seat of their own car.

A few hours after his abduction, the kidnappers contacted his family demanding 150 thousand Euros before they release him. Obodo is the first footballer to be kidnapped in Nigeria. They've messed with footballers families but never a footballer until now.

MAN DIES WHILE HAVING SEX WITH CALABAR GIRLFRIEND

A young man aged about 30 reportedly died at the weekend in Calabar, the Cross River state capital, southsouth Nigeria, during a sex romp with his girlfriend.

The man, whose name was given as Ete Samuel, was a resident of 14, Ekpo Abasi Lane in Calabar South, while his sex partner, Miss Peace Idorenyin is a resident of 16, Target Street, close to the Calabar Zoo.

The two chose the cheap “short time spot” located at Atu Street for early evening sex session before the incident happened.

A source who witnessed the incident said he was called at about 5 p.m. by the owner of the short time spot to come and help him as he had a “situation which he alone could not handle. So as a good friend I had to get there fast. “When I got there, I went into the room and saw a young man on the floor with foam coming out of his mouth and I called the police who came and took the corpse to the mortuary and the lady to Atakpa Police Station”.

“I did not kill him as many men have slept with me and they did not die and this was not the first time Ete Samuel was doing it with me.” Accoding to her, she could have “escaped but since I know I am not the cause of his death, I had to wear him his trousers before calling people to help me.”

She said she noticed that the man was shaking and she thought the man was about reaching orgasm “but when he did not make any move of coming down from my body after some time I pushed him and saw that he was foaming in his mouth.”

K-SOLO AND WIFE DIVORCED AFTER 6MONTH OF MARRIAGE

Top music producer K-Solo married Kikelomo Akinkunmi in November 2011. By May 2012, the marriage was over. The wife told City People in an exclusive interview that the marriage ended because K-Solo was in it for money and also because he assaulted her so much she lost the pregnancy she was carrying when they got married. MAN HANGS HIMSELF AFTER SAYING GOODBYE ON FACEBOOK

Ayodeji Balogun (pictured above) wrote what you see above on his Fabebook page yesterday evening, and by this morning, he was dead. Friends of the deceased said he injected himself with Go 90 at his home early this morning, and later hanged himself on a mango tree at his residence in Ipaja, Lagos. 

Ayodeji was a student of the National Open University, Lagos and an ex-student of CMS Grammar school. There's never an excuse for suicide. May his soul rest in peace.
