Beyonce is hinting at the inspiration behind daughter Blue Ivy Carter’s
name after posting a passage from a 2005 novel on her official Tumblr.
The Rebecca Solnit excerpt from A Field Guide to Getting Lost features a
recurring motif of the colour blue, which holds special symbolism for
Bey and husband Jay-Z. Ivy reportedly references the Roman numeral four,
which has been a significant number throughout the couple’s lives.
